Our Mission. The Diabetes Prevention and Control Program of Orange County is dedicated to promoting a decrease in complications of diabetes and the incidence of diabetes of Orange County residents. This is accomplished through the offering of educational programs and information on diabetes.

Who we are. The Diabetes Prevention and Control Program of Orange County is a coalition comprised of area representatives from hospitals, federally qualified health centers and other groups involved in diabetes management in Orange County, New York. We are part of a larger coalition, the Mid-Hudson/Catskill Diabetes Coalition, which is funded by the New York State Diabetes Control Program of the Department of Health. We meet quarterly, with one of the four meetings being a conference call.

What we do:

  • Educational programs in different parts of the county throughout the year. Two large educational programs are held, one during Spring, and the second in Fall/Winter. Smaller mini-programs are held throughout the year.
  • Resources on Type 1 and Type 2 diabetes as well as information on prevention, control, and management of diabetes.
  • Information on walking as a healthy activity for all ages through ORANGE WALKS!
  • Information on Endocrinologists in the area.
  • Information on upcoming diabetes programs offered by coalition partners.
  • Surveys to assess the needs of county residents with diabetes as long as developing ways to address these areas.
